Dean McDermott reveals alcohol-fueled rages left ex Tori Spelling, kids ‘petrified’

Dean McDermott revealed his alcohol-fueled rages were the straw that broke the camel’s back on his marriage to Tori Spelling.

The former “Chopped Canada” host, who spent the summer in rehab and lives in a sober home in Woodland Hills, Calif., with eight other men, is now hoping to make amends with his family.

“All Tori’s ever done to this day is want me to be happy and healthy and I inflicted a lot of damage and pain on that woman,” he told DailyMail.com in an interview published Wednesday.

McDermott, 56, admitted he would drink a fifth of tequila every night of the week and take “handful of narcos [prescription meds]” by himself while his now-estranged wife and kids were “petrified” in other rooms.

“Alcohol made me feel good enough. I started feeling good enough until it got to a point where it didn’t – it ended up in isolation,” he admitted, adding that he and Spelling slept in separate bedrooms since 2017.

“That’s what it led to and that’s what led to the brokenness and to what happened between me and Tori. I couldn’t do it anymore. I couldn’t live that life anymore. I was tired of the anger and the yelling.”

The “Santa Baby 2” actor hit rock bottom in June, and Spelling told him to go to treatment.

“And she helped find Harmony Place and got me in here,” Dean revealed, noting he spent 40 days at the facility.

McDermott admitted he has not seen the “Beverly Hills, 90210” alum or his kids since the spring, when they moved out of their rental home because of a mold issue, but he has begun texting with Spelling, 50, with hopes of seeing his “beautiful” family soon.

“It’s going to be living the rest of my life making amends because I took something that was really beautiful and I just tore it down year after year, day after day,” he told the outlet.

“Life happens. It’s tough having kids. It’s tough living in this town, tough, having financial problems,” he said.

“It’s just really tough. I’m not making excuses. I certainly had my hand in it in the dissolution of the relationship. But yeah, hasn’t been easy. Nothing in life is easy.”

Although McDermott has moved on with girlfriend Lily Calo, 33, he has no regrets about the life he built with the “True Tori” alum.

“It was a total fairytale. I mean, it was a beautiful love story. Love at first sight and getting married in the most beautiful way possible,” he recalled of their Fiji wedding.

“It was a dream come true.”

McDermott announced in June — though it’s now unclear if it was before or during his treatment — that he and Spelling were calling it quits on their 17-year marriage.

He subsequently deleted the announcement. Neither has officially filed for divorce.
