Halle Bailey’s boyfriend, DDG, announced her pregnancy on April Fools’ Day — but no one believed him
Now that Halle Bailey and her boyfriend, DDG, have revealed that they welcomed their first child together sometime in 2023, his April Fools’ Day pregnancy announcement is going viral.
“can’t wait to be your dad 😭😭❤️,” the rapper, 26, tweeted on April 1 alongside a sonogram that showed a fetus appearing to be between 8 and 10 weeks along.
At the time, fans doubted the authenticity of the post, with many commenting things like, “We get it because it’s April fools but babies and faking a pregnancy isn’t cute” and “This is the oldest and worst April fools prank. Surprised you never got the memo that this isn’t funny.”
Others argued that the “Little Mermaid” star, 23, would “never let a boy like you ruin her million dollar career.”
“april fools cause you won’t trap halle,” someone else added, while another netizen remarked, “Halle might be with you rn but she’ll never ever give you a child baby bro.”
“I’m not even entertaining this,” yet another response read. “Halle would not f—k up like this right now 🤣 n—s be bored.”
After months of speculation that the “Color Purple” actress and the musician were going to great lengths to keep her baby bump a secret, the couple confirmed their little one’s arrival over the weekend.

DDG shared a similar picture, which he captioned, “my biggest blessing by far 👶🏽❤️ son son.. never been so in love 🥹 baby halo.”
Twitter users immediately returned to his initial pregnancy announcement to joke about just how wrong everyone was.
“Look around everybody on mute,” one person quipped, which was followed by, “Here we clowned him but in the end, he got the last laugh.”
