Val Chmerkovskiy shows grisly neck injury that led to hospitalization: ‘I went through some stuff’

Val Chmerkovskiy revealed he sustained a grisly neck injury last year.

The “Dancing With the Stars” pro took to Instagram Wednesday to post throwback pictures of himself lying in a hospital bed with a neck brace, as well as a glimpse of his post-surgery scar.

Chmerkovskiy, 37, did not share what happened, but he appeared to be bedridden for a while as he recovered at a medical center.

The dancer also included a video of his wife, Jenna Johnson, grabbing his hand and telling him, “OK, time to walk around!”

“Let’s do it!” he eagerly responded.

A close-up selfie, meanwhile, revealed a major vertical scar starting below Chmerkovskiy’s chin and ending right above his chest.

The Instagram carousel also featured a clip of the choreographer’s two dogs cuddling his head and leg while he slept in bed at home with his neck brace still on.

Chmerkovskiy appears to be back in good health now, as he also posted a picture holding his 1-year-old son, Rome, as well as a video of himself dancing in a studio with others.

“This time last year I went through some stuff,” he cryptically captioned the post.

Despite his neck injury, Chmerkovskiy was able to recover by September when he resumed his “DWTS” duties with his partner, Xochitl Gomez, for Season 32.

The dancing duo were even able to snag the Mirrorball Trophy, marking Chmerkovskiy’s third win over the course of his 19 seasons on the show.
