Aoki Lee Simmons shares cryptic message about ‘terrifying’ her parents after Vittorio Assaf breakup
Aoki Lee Simmons shared a pointed Instagram post following her short-lived romance with Vittorio Assaf.
The 21-year-old model highlighted a quote from an April 2023 Chloë Sevigny interview with the Cut, seemingly hinting at how her mom, Kimora Lee Simmons, and dad, Russell Simmons, feel about her fling with the 65-year-old restaurateur.
“That was my big year of going out,” Sevigny recalled of living in Brooklyn Heights with five roommates after high school.
“I do know for my mom it was very terrifying, but I checked in a lot, and my dad would always remind her that there was more good in the world than bad,” the Oscar nominee continued.
Sevigny noted that her parents were “pretty worried about drugs, but [she] never liked doing them” and has “never even done cocaine.”
While Sevigny was clearly referring to her own parents, Janine Malinowski and H. David Sevigny, at the time, Aoki wrote, “Her words [are] also mine [at this point].”
The Harvard University grad’s parents have both made headlines for their reactions after Page Six published exclusive PDA-packed photos of Aoki and Assaf’s St. Barts trip last week.
Russell, 66, explained to TMZ Monday that he would not “kick and scream” over his youngest child’s choices and instead offered his “advice and unconditional love.”
As for his ex-wife, Kimora, 48, shared a telling video via Instagram Stories showing a mama bear protecting her cub, writing that she was “on [her] last nerve.”
The Baby Phat designer was later called a “master deflector” when she sidestepped Aoki’s controversial relationship to celebrate her daughter’s modeling career instead.

Aoki, for her part, has shared cryptic posts about feeling “depresso espresso” amid all the headlines.
She and Assaf are “100 percent done,” a source told Page Six exclusively Monday, claiming Aoki said she was “never with” the much-older man.
Aoki did, however, refer to Assaf as her “boyfriend” in an Instagram Live video taken on vacation that “concerned” fans.
Notably, Aoki’s parents have an age gap of their own, with 19 years between Kimora and Russell.
