‘When Calls the Heart’ actress Mamie Laverock’s body ‘shattered’ in 5-story fall, family says: ‘She is enduring tremendous pain’
Hallmark star Mamie Laverock’s family said in a GoFundMe update that her body “shattered” when she fell from a five-story building last month.
“Focusing now on Mamie’s surgery today. Her body has been shattered. She has undergone two 11 hour surgeries with two doctors working on her, a three hour surgery and another surgery today,” the family recently wrote.
“We have nothing but gratitude for the doctors and nurses who have been exemplary in her care since May 26.”
The “When Calls the Heart” actress’s family said she is “doing well” compared to when she arrived at the hospital. However, “she is enduring tremendous pain.”
“We can only hold onto the miracles of each day and continue to thank everyone for their prayers and marvel at the miracles of her story. Our daughter loves her life and loves her family and is fighting hard everyday,” they concluded.
The 19-year-old’s loved ones first announced that she had suffered a “medical emergency” on May 11.
Laverock’s mom, Nicole Compton, said she “was able to get there in time to save her [daughter’s] life” and transported her to a local hospital.
Laverock was later moved to a medical center in Vancouver, where her condition was labeled “unclear” but showed “signs of improvement.”
However, the family reported that the “Wedding of Dreams” star “was escorted out of a secure unit of the hospital and taken up to a balcony walkway from which she fell five stories.”
“She sustained life threatening injuries, has undergone multiple extensive surgeries, and is currently on life support. We are all devastated, in shock, at this intensely difficult time,” they wrote on her GoFundMe page.
After the surgeries, Laverock’s family said she was “doing well.”
“It’s impossible for us to be happier. Thank you all for your support,” they wrote.
As of this publication, the GoFundMe has raised more than $35,000.
