Rapper Remy Ma’s son, Jayson, arrested and charged with 1st degree murder for 2021 shooting
Remy Ma’s son, Jayson Scott, was arrested and charged with first degree murder for the deathly 2021 shooting of Darius Guillebeaux, Page Six can confirm.
Scott, 23, was detained on Tuesday, along with Richard Swygert, who was also involved with the murder. The “Lean Back” rapper’s son was also charged with second degree murder, criminal possession of a weapon and reckless endangerment.
Meanwhile, Swygert, 22, was charged with first degree murder, first degree reckless endangerment and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon.
Following Scott’s arrest, Remy told Page Six, “We stand by JaySon’s innocence and pray that the NYPD will conduct a complete and thorough investigation to reveal the truth.
“This is undoubtedly a difficult time for my family and me. While we sincerely appreciate the love and support we have received from all of you, we kindly ask for privacy as our legal team works to prove JaySon’s innocence.”
In a statement via the lawyer of Remy’s son, Dawn Florio, the matriarch continued, “As his mother, I want to address this situation personally but have been strongly advised by his legal counsel not to say anything — as most people in similar situations are informed by their attorneys due to it being an active case.”
Page Six has reached out to reps for the NYPD but did not immediately hear back.
According to the New York Daily News, Guillebeaux was shot and killed by two men in Queens, NY, in June 2021.
Cops told the outlet that two men opened fire at 148th St. and Rockaway Blvd. in South Jamaica where Guillebeaux was struck multiple times in his head and chest.
Guillebeaux was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead. He was 47.
The victim had a lengthy rap sheet, serving three years in state prison for selling drugs and robbery. He was released in 2017 after serving four years.
We’re told Scott and Swygert were allegedly contracted to kill Guillebeaux.
Remy — born Reminisce Smith — gave birth to Scott in 2000. It’s unknown whether she has a close relationship with her son, as she is rarely seen with him.
In fact, the “Conceited” rapper, 44, was not present for his baby shower in 2019.
In a 2016 episode of “Love and Hip Hop,” Remy had an intimate chat with her son before he walked her down the aisle for her second wedding to rapper Papoose.
“I’m very, very proud of you and I love the bond that we’re creating. I feel like we’re getting back to where we was before I went away for that long, long period of time,” she said, referring to her own six-year prison stint.
Remy told Scott that she thought he would “hate” her for not being there for him during the time she was incarcerated.
The Terror Squad emcee is also mom to daughter Reminisce, 5, whom she welcomed with Papoose in December 2018.
