Supreme Court rejects Josh Duggar’s appeal in child porn case
Josh Duggar is out of luck.
On Monday, the Supreme Court declined to hear the disgraced former reality star’s appeal of his child pornography conviction, per Fox.
Duggar, 36, had attempted to overturn his 12-year prison sentence. He is expected to remain behind bars until 2032.
The father of seven was arrested in April 2021 after the feds discovered child porn on his work computer.
The trial took place seven months later and he was found guilty on one count each of receiving and possessing child pornography.
The Arkansas jury reached its verdict after seven hours of deliberation. They had been forced to hear graphic testimony about Duggar alleged predilection for kiddie porn.
DOJ agent James Fottrell claimed that Duggar had downloaded a video of an explicit video of a three-month-old girl.
“The infant is crying and screaming. It’s one of the most offensive videos that I’m familiar with throughout my whole career,” Fottrell said.
Duggar’s defense attorney claimed that someone else had downloaded the disturbing content to Duggar’s computer.
In May 2022, he was sentenced to 151 months, which was eight years less than the 20-year maximum behind bars he faced.
Josh’s wife, Anna, with whom he shares seven children, stood by his side during the trial and sentencing.
Duggar rose to fame as the eldest child on the TLC reality show “19 Kids and Counting” starring his parents, Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar, and their numerous offspring.
However, the show imploded when reports came to light that Josh had molested five girls, including several of his sisters, when he was a minor.
A spin-off Duggar show was canceled when Josh was arrested on child pornography possession charges.
The family’s affiliation with a controversial Christian sect and their handling of Josh’s alleged molestations were discussed in the docu-series, “Shiny Happy People: Duggar Family Secrets.”
The Duggar parents were accused of covering up Josh’s disturbing and illegal behavior for many years. They later slammed the series as “sad” and “sensationalized.”
