Kyle Filipowski’s fiancée, Caitlin Hutchison, goes private on Instagram amid grooming allegations
Kyle Filipowski’s fiancée, Caitlin Hutchinson, has gone incognito on Instagram after allegations surfaced that she groomed the athlete.
Hutchinson, 26, switched her formerly public Instagram account to private mode just days after the 20-year-old NBA rookie’s family came forward with the shocking accusations.
Prior to going dark on social media, Hutchinson had limited her comments section so that only people she follows back on the app were able to leave messages on her posts.
The last time she posted on social media was on May 11, just weeks before Filipowski was selected by the Utah Jazz as the 32nd draft pick.
Though he was originally projected to go in the first round, ESPN draft analyst Jonathan Givony reported that NBA teams passed up on Filipowski due to concerns surrounding his relationship with Hutchinson.
“NBA teams are talking about the fact that they had question marks about his girlfriend being so much older than him, why was he estranged from his family because of this whole situation,” Givony said during an appearance on “NBA Today” after first broaching the subject on “The Lowe Post Podcast.”
“He apparently doesn’t talk to his parents or his brother and it’s a very, very odd situation.”
The basketball star’s brother, Daniel Filipowski, subsequently came forward on X with claims that Hutchison “forced [Kyle] to cut [them] off from his life almost two years ago.”
“My brother is a victim and was unfortunately a ‘perfect’ pawn and target for this girl’s lifelong scheme based on his human characteristics and growing potential as a high-level prospect which started taking place in 2019, exactly at the time when she began her pursuit of him,” Daniel wrote on June 29.
Hutchinson, who is seven years older than Kyle, didn’t confirm their relationship publicly on Instagram until December 2021 — one month after his 18th birthday. She was about 25 years old at the time.
Despite their age gap, Kyle took Hutchinson as his date to prom. They continued to date as he went on to attend Duke while she worked at a medical device sales company.
They announced their engagement in April by sharing black-and-white photos of Hutchinson wearing a diamond engagement ring as she smiled next to Kyle.
