Shannon Beador claims ex John Janssen thought ‘Real Housewives’ needed to ‘cover up and be conservative’
Shannon Beador claims ex-boyfriend John Janssen previously suggested that she and her fellow “Real Housewives” should “cover up” more.
The “Real Housewives of Orange County” star made the revelation on Friday’s episode of Scheana Shay’s “Scheananigans” podcast, admitting that she found it “surprising” that her ex went on to date someone like Alexis Bellino.
“Right before we broke up, I was in New York doing press, and he’s like, ‘You really should cut your hair, so it’s more age appropriate. Like, if you have really long hair with extensions, it looks phony,’” Beador, 60, alleged to the “Vanderpump Rules” star.
“And then [John] would say, like, ‘Why do these girls dress so provocatively? Like, they really should cover up and be conservative.’”
Beador continued on, saying that she thinks “that’s kind of what Alexis and her hair is” like, implying that Janssen’s alleged comments were hypocritical.
The Real for Real founder also admitted that she now feels like she does “not even know” Janssen anymore, despite dating him on and off from 2019 to 2023.
“If they’re happy, great. I don’t want to be with him at all. I don’t,” she reiterated.
In response to Beador’s latest comments, Janssen, 61, released a statement to Page Six.
“Although Shannon may have occasionally asked for my feedback and opinion on her own hairstyles and clothing options, I never commented on how the other women dressed or styled their hair,” he said. “It’s sad to see Shannon resorting to attacks on Alexis’ beauty and appearance.”
Beador, Janssen and Bellino have been at the center of the drama on the current season of “RHOC,” ever since Bellino began dating Janssen in November 2023 –– one year after Beador confirmed their split.
However, Beador later claimed that they briefly got back together before ending things for good after she was arrested for DUI and hit-and-run in September 2023.
Bellino and Janssen were initially interested in “becoming friends,” but that quickly changed when she confirmed their relationship with a kiss in December 2023.
Janssen later showed his love and commitment for Bellino by getting her a $16,000 promise ring for Christmas.
By March, Bellino told Page Six that Janssen will “probably” propose soon, and Janssen gushed that he “cannot picture my life without her.”
Bellino doubled down on the sentiment and told E! News in July that they have been “looking at engagement rings.”
Meanwhile, Bellino and Beador have had to navigate their dynamic of being in the same friend group, since Bellino returned to filming “RHOC” as a “friend.”
On the most recent episode, Bellino claimed she and Janssen have damaging videos of Beador on the night of her DUI arrest and threatened to release them if Beador didn’t stop talking poorly about her man.
