Britney Spears and ex-husband Sam Asghari’s relationship timeline

Britney Spears is a free woman — in more ways than one.

The music superstar settled her divorce from her third husband, Sam Asghari, in May 2024.

The news comes eight months after Page Six confirmed the former couple had called it quits.

Prior to their separation, Spears and Asghari had been head over heels for each other since meeting on the set of one of her music videos in October 2016.

They got engaged in September 2021 and tied the knot in June 2022.

Page Six broke the news in September 2021 that the fitness model had popped the question to the “Hold Me Closer” singer at her Thousand Oaks, Calif., mansion with a 4-carat ring featuring his nickname for her, “Lioness,” engraved inside the band.

“The couple made their long-standing relationship official today and are deeply touched by the support, dedication and love expressed to them,” his manager, Brandon Cohen, told us.

Spears casually announced on Instagram in April 2022 that she was pregnant with her and her then-fiancé’s first child together, writing in part, “So I got a pregnancy test … and uhhhhh well … I am having a baby.”

After her post sparked confusion among fans, Asghari confirmed the news, writing on his account, “Fatherhood is something i have always looked forward to and i don’t take lightly. It is the most important job i will ever do.”

Devastating loss

The betrothed couple revealed with “deepest sadness” in May 2022 that Spears had suffered a miscarriage with their “miracle baby.”

“Perhaps we should have waited to announce until we were further along,” they admitted in a joint statement on Instagram. “However we were overly excited to share the good news.”

The Grammy winner previously welcomed two sons, Sean Preston and Jayden James, with her ex-husband Kevin Federline, to whom she was married from October 2004 to July 2007.

Spears and Asghari wed in June 2022 in a fairy-tale ceremony at her home.

The star-studded guest list included Madonna, Paris Hilton, Drew Barrymore, Selena Gomez and Donatella Versace, the latter of whom designed the bride’s gown.

The “Work Bitch” singer’s family members did not attend the wedding after becoming estranged over her 13-year conservatorship, which a judge terminated in November 2021.

Page Six reported in August 2023 that the pair were headed for divorce, with sources claiming to TMZ that they had a “nuclear argument” in which Asghari “confronted” Spears about “rumors she stepped out on him” with a member of her staff.

The “Black Monday” actor — who previously shut down “disgusting” reports that his marriage had been on the rocks — filed for divorce soon after and casually wrote on Instagram, “S–t happens.”

The “Crossroads” star also spoke out online, sharing that she was “shocked” but “couldn’t take the pain anymore.”
