Margot Robbie’s best Barbie outfits: All the times she dressed like a literal doll

Margot Robbie is truly a Barbie girl living in a Barbie world.

As the Oscar nominee travels the globe to promote her much-anticipated movie based on Mattel’s doll, she’s been paying homage to the petite plastic icon with her (primarily pink) wardrobe.

To be sure, the Australian actress has always been a dead ringer for the doll — but her latest looks take the Barbiecore trend a leap further, with Robbie and her stylist, Andrew Mukamal, even commissioning custom designer outfits based on ones made famous by the fashionable figurine.

Below, see all the Barbie-inspired outfits Robbie’s worn during the movie’s press tour thus far — along with their tiny toy counterparts.

Enchanted Evening Barbie (1960)

Robbie exuded elegance at the London premiere of “Barbie” on July 12. She channeled 1960’s Elegant Evening doll with her custom Vivienne Westwood ensemble, complete with a ruffled collar, white opera gloves and a three-strand pearl choker.

Talk about a mic-drop moment: Robbie and Mukamal drew inspiration from 1960’s Solo in the Spotlight Barbie for the film’s LA premiere, with the actress walking the pink carpet in a sequined Schiaparelli Haute Couture bustier dress trimmed with multiple layers of tulle, adorned with a hand-painted embroidered rose and accessorized with a pale pink scarf.

Manolo Blahnik mules and roughly 380 carats of Lorraine Schwartz diamonds finished off the look.

Crimped extensions, a colorful printed Pucci minidress, Chanel logo earrings and hot pink Manolo Blahnik pumps helped Robbie transform into 1992’s Totally Hair Barbie at a Mexico City photocall.

Robbie similarly threw it back to 1992 at her movie’s Mexico City premiere, channeling Earring Magic Barbie in a hot pink leather-and-mesh Balmain look accessorized with Manolos and — what else? — statement-making silver earrings and a chain belt to match.

For a press conference on July 3 in Seoul, South Korea, Robbie suited up in a custom bedazzled cropped jacket, one-shouldered bra top and miniskirt inspired by 1964’s Sparkling Pink Barbie. Even her matching pillbox hat nodded to the doll’s original outfit.

Day-to-Night Barbie (1985)

Robbie cosplayed 1985’s Day-to-Night Barbie at her movie’s Seoul premiere on July 2, initially walking the red carpet in a screaming pink Atelier Versace skirt suit accessorized with a cell phone-shaped Judith Leiber Couture clutch.

She later changed into her evening look: a full-skirted party dress with an embellished bustier-style bodice.

The Original Barbie (1959)

At a promo event at Bondi Icebergs in Sydney on June 29, Robbie looked like a living doll in a bespoke Hervé Léger body-con dress modeled after the strapless black-and-white swimsuit worn by the first-ever Barbie in 1959.

Even the actress’ white cat-eye sunglasses from Jacques Marie Mage, her hoop earrings by Spinelli Kilcollin and her glossy red lip perfectly matched the original toy’s.

Pink & Fabulous Barbie (2015)

Robbie looked pretty in pink polka dots while posing at a Los Angeles photocall on June 25.

The actress’ Valentino minidress directly referenced a strikingly similar spotted style worn by 2015’s Pink & Fabulous Barbie — and she even styled it with a bright yellow quilted bag and beaded bracelet to hammer the point home.
