ALAMEDA, CA — Three suspects were arrested last Wednesday following an armed carjacking in Alameda, with the suspects doggedly tracked from Alameda to Oakland to San Francisco where they crashed the stolen vehicle and fled on foot, according to the Alameda Police Dept.

The victims were not injured.

The carjacking happened in the 2800 block of Central Avenue at 2:00 p.m.

Two people approached the victims and, at gunpoint, ordered them out of their vehicle, according to police. The vehicle with the victims' possessions were stolen. A third suspect was seen waiting in a separate car.

"Officers immediately began canvassing the area," Alameda Police said in a statement, "and detectives requested assistance from other agencies to help locate the stolen vehicle. Utilizing technology, detectives were able to monitor the vehicle’s movements in real-time and relay crucial information to officers in the field."

The Oakland Police Department’s air support team monitored the vehicle’s movements, following it to San Francisco.

The suspects lost control of the vehicle in San Francisco and attempted to flee on foot. A perimeter was established and all three were arrested and the gun was recovered.

All three were in handcuffs within an hour of the carjacking.
