July 4th Pre-Parade 5K - Benefit for Midway Shelter for Women & Children

"This run benefits the Midway Shelter of Alameda. First founded in 1989 by the Alameda Homeless Network and the City of Alameda, Midway provides 25 beds and a range of services for homeless women and children. Building Futures was chosen to operate the shelter in 2001. The name “Midway” represents the shift in the lives of women and children served, where the cycle of homelessness and domestic violence falls away and a new future can be built."
General Overview:
"The 5K run (3.1 mile) and walk takes you through beautiful Alameda starting at 9:00AM, just before the historic 4th of July Parade. We are working closely with the city so that we can bring a safe and fun experience for both runners and spectators."
Details:
The race starts at 1420 Park Street in front of Lauren’s Closet and follows the Alameda parade route ending at Haight and Webster. The scenic course is completely closed to traffic as you run past spectators waiting for the parade to start. Your run will finish just past the parade judging booth.
"This year we are going to have access to Haight st (current location of the Tues/Sat farmers market). Stick around and enjoy post race water, Gatorade hydration, plenty of snacks and beer donated from our local breweries!
"Register before June 15 to receive a T-shirt, and for 2024 ALL runners will receive a custom finisher medal.Registration before June 30 can pick up your packets at Lauren's Closet at 1420 Park St (see event schedule for details). IF you register AFTER Sunday June 30, you will need to pick your packet on race morning. Thanks for the understanding."
