Unite with Silicon Valley’s Finest to Honor the Heroes of 9/11
The Veterans Memorial &amp; Support Foundation will host a tribute to Remember and Honor 9/11 Survivors, Victims and Heroes on Wednesday, September 11, 2024, from 8AM – 9:30 AM, at The Flame of Liberty Memorial, 110 East Main Street, Los Gatos, CA. The event is outdoors on the Los Gatos Civic Center Lawn and is FREE and open to the public. September 11, 2001, began as an ordinary, late-summer day. As the sun rose, fair weather and blue skies prevailed over much of the country and thousands of commercial airliners prepared for flight. But, in less than two hours' time, this seemingly routine day was transformed when 19 terrorists boarded and hijacked four commercial airplanes to attack America.
Nearly 3,000 people were killed when the hijacked planes were flown into the World Trade Center in New York City, the Pentagon near Washington, DC, and when United Airlines Flight 93 crashed in the Pennsylvania countryside outside of Shanksville, PA.
Two local United Flight 93 heroes attempted to take back cockpit control from terrorists - Todd Beamer and Mark Bingham. Todd and Mark never wore a uniform and never attended any military training. Many would say they were killed in action. Their selfless acts of courage prevented the Capitol Building and all within it from being annihilated. Moreover, thanks to their quick efforts, our government escaped harm at a crucial time when it was critical to act against terrorism.
Americans have demonstrated on numerous occasions that they know how to RISE AGAIN, STAND UNITED, STAND STRONG. 9/11 was no exception. Today is proof positive that America knows how to RISE. A new World Trade Center adorns the footprint of the former Twin Towers and beautiful memorials commemorate the lives lost at the Twin Towers, the Pentagon and the crash site in Shanksville Pennsylvania. We commemorate the lives of Mark Bingham and Todd Beamer locally at our own Flame of Liberty Memorial located at the Los Gatos Civic Center. 
In the spirit of standing strong, the Veterans Memorial &amp; Support Foundation invites you to RISE and join us for a tribute to 9/11 heroes. <a href="https://www.caregiverscount.net/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">The conference will be held over four consecutive weeks, on September
 14, 21, and 28 and October 5</a>. Attendees will have the opportunity to 
hear from informative speakers as well as senior service agencies to 
learn about supportive services in Santa Clara County.
The first three (virtual) sessions will be streamed live via Zoom. These sessions will also be recorded so that caregivers can refer back to them after the conference.
The final session (Oct. 5) will be IN PERSON at the Campbell Community Center, located at 1 W Campbell Ave C-31, Campbell, CA 95008.

1. Laughter - Presented by Vivian Silva
Learn
 about the benefits of humor for caregivers and their loved ones. The 
presenter's role as a caregiver, including tips from clients, will 
provide ways to bring humor and laughter into the caregiving experience.
 Even a smile counts to keep caregivers on a healthier path.

2. Chair Yoga - Presented by Mythri Jegathesan 
This
 30-40 minute session of chair yoga will focus on a set of movements (in
 short sets) that build an awareness of bodily rhythm, breath, and 
expansion. It will encourage you to cultivate an appreciation of the 
range of experience that your body can access and feel throughout any 
part of your life-course and can be done at any time or in small 
increments of time during your schedule. Our goal, in the frame of self 
care, is to experience how any kind of mindful movement as a practice 
can give us pause to our usual daily activities and serve as a form of 
rejuvenation and pause.
