Video: Police Seek Suspect In Teen Jogger Attack

CULVER CITY, CA — Culver City Police Department released a video Thursday, asking the public to help identify a suspect who followed and attacked a teen jogger last week.

The assault happened about 10 a.m. July 30 near National Boulevard and Wesley Street, according to the Culver City Police Department.

The victim was running north along the bike path near National Boulevard when she noticed the suspect riding his bicycle behind her, police said.

"The suspect seemed to be intently watching her, while one of his hands was in his pants, possibly committing a lewd act," police said in a statement.

The victim was scared and tried to run away when she was hit in the head with an unknown object, police said. She fell down and lost consciousness.

She then regained consciousness and saw the suspect riding away north onto National Boulevard. She was taken to a hospital and treated for a serious but non-life-threatening head injury.

The suspect was described as a Latino man with short black hair, a thin build, and wearing a black sweatshirt and camouflage sweatpants. He had a black bike.

In a surveillance video released by detectives Thursday, the suspect is seen riding away from the area on a bicycle, police said. The bike has a red rear wheel. He had a black backpack with silver or gray trim.

No further suspect information was available.
