FREMONT, CA — The minimum wage for workers in Fremont increased to $17.30 per hour on July 1.

The minimum wage does not apply only to government workers. "All employers are required to pay at least the minimum wage for all hours worked to hourly employees who perform work within the geographic boundaries of the City of Fremont," the City said in an announcement earlier this year.

However, the minimum wage ordinance exempts employees of non-profit corporations, which the City allows in an effort to avoid a reduction in services the nonprofits provide to the community.
