STUDIO CITY, CA — After the coronavirus pandemic forced them to close their doors for over a year, the Autry Museum of the American West is finally preparing to welcome back museum goers. The museum has announced their phased reopening plan, allowing members to reserve their spaces first before reopening to the general public on April 6.

Members who have stuck with the Autry through the pandemic will receive a special thank you as part of member week, which will run from March 30 through April 4. From then on, the general public will be able to enter Tuesdays through Sundays from 11 a.m. - 4 p.m., with advance reservations required.

Admission will be free for all visitors through April 18. After that date, admission will be free for members only.

"After a challenging year for so many, we are ecstatic to reopen the museum and welcome the community back into our building," said W. Richard West Jr., President and CEO of the Autry. "We are thrilled to share our three new onsite exhibitions with the public and, complementing our growing online offerings, continue telling the diverse stories of the American West in person. I am grateful to our dedicated staff, who had to adapt quickly to bring the museum online in 2020 and who are now working diligently to reopen the physical space in 2021."

Beginning March 30, two new collections will be on display for a limited time: Masters of the American West® Art Exhibition and Sale, and When I Remember I See Red: American Indian Art and Activism in California. On April 13, the museum will launch What’s Her Story: Women in the Archives along with Art of the West, which will be an ongoing exhibit.
