LOS ANGELES, CA — Southern California is home to 38 of the nation's 100 most expensive ZIP codes based on median home-sale prices this year, according to a new analysis from real estate data site PropertyShark.

That's just one very expensive distinction earned in the report by the Golden State thanks to its sky-high cost of living. SoCal is home to half of the 10 most expensive ZIP codes in the nation.

To come up with the list, PropertyShark calculated this year's median sale prices based on closed home sales up until Oct. 20. To be included, ZIP codes must have had at least three sales. The top 100 list included 122 ZIP codes due to ties, according to PropertyShark.
