LOS ANGELES, CA — One Los Angeles County resident turned a $30 scratcher ticket into $7 million, the California Lottery announced Wednesday.

The Xtreme Crosswords scratcher was sold at Sweet Time Donuts in Compton to Jose Grafias, who was one of four Southern California residents who won big on Tuesday.

“Having this many jackpots at extraordinarily high levels is statistically improbable and triggered exponential sales growth; the California Lottery cannot assume the same luck in the next 12 months,” California Lottery officials said.

The three other winners include Douglas Colton, who won $5 million on a Year of Fortune Scratcher purchased in Redlands; Kuwa Harin, who won $5 million on a California State Riches ticket purchased in San Diego; Ali Awad who won $1 million on a Merry Multiplier Scratchers ticket purchased in San Diego.

California lottery officials project the total sales revenue will be more than $9 billion in the 2024-2025 fiscal year, $2.08 billion of which will go to public education.
