National Park Service biologists were able to determine the cat was P-27 from the location given.

While the majority of Americans were holed up inside on Super Bowl Sunday earlier this month, this king of the California jungle was lounging around the Santa Monica mountains.

P-27 is a male mountain lion caught and tagged in Topanga State Park in April 2013, according to Urban Carnivores. His home range includes Malibu Creek State Park east to the San Diego (405) Freeway, the wildlife website said.

Biologists say if you should encounter a mountain lion in the wild and it is not exhibiting aggressive behavior, you should back away slowly and give the cat its space. Jacques, for his part, kept a safe distance while filming P-27.
