Weekend At A Winery: Book A Stay At New Paso Robles Vineyard Farmhouse

ONX Wines' Farmstead caters to large groups or intimate getaways with options for wine tasting, off-road tours, teas, yoga & private chefs.

PASO ROBLES, CA — Travelers seeking to meld a love of wine and wanderlust have a new option — a stay at the recently opened Clark House, a vacation rental at ONX Estate Vineyard in Paso Robles on California's central coast.

With five bedrooms, four baths, patio with fire pit and grill, game room, fully equipped kitchen and sprawling vineyard views, the Farmstead's main Clark House accommodates up to 10 people.

For smaller getaways for one to two, the adjacent Clark House apartment features a one-bedroom suite with private entrance, kitchen and outdoor lounge area.

The two, new properties join other cottages available for visitors at the 130-acre ONX Wines, a family-owned, boutique winery known for its sustainably farmed blends.

With a concierge on staff, Farmstead guests can book wine-tastings, off-road vineyard tours, restaurant reservations, private dinners, picnics and afternoon teas among the vines, yoga sessions, spa excursions or a private chef.

And there's a cute critter perk: Pygmy goats, Olde English "Babydoll" sheep, ducks and chickens are at home on the estate.

“When you stay at one of our vineyard Farmsteads, we want you to feel the connection to the land and become immersed in the vineyards while creating lifetime memories,” said Dean Baxter, ONX Wines innkeeper and concierge.

ONX — pronounced "onyx" as an homage to the region's soil — is located in the temperate Templeton Gap American Viticultural Area (AVA). The vineyards are planted with 18 distinct varieties and numerous clones, according to the vintners. The operation's best-selling wines include "Indie Rosé," "Mad Crush Grenache," "Field Day Sauvignon Blanc" and the "Reckoning Syrah" blend.

For parties of 10 or more, ONX's resident sommelier will bring the wine tasting to guests for a full portfolio review.

Or time a trip for the Sept. 17 weekend, and join the Dine in the Vines event — a chef-curated, open-air feast served in the vineyards.

The main Clark House rents for $1,000 - $1,200 per night, while the apartment is priced at $300 - $375 per night.

The ONX property also offers the Briarwood Cottage rental, an English-inspired, four-bedroom home that sleeps eight, plus a cottage apartment for up to two, along with the Kiler House, that sleeps six with three bedrooms, and the Kiler Studio Apartment with kitchenette.
