Body Found Near Pond In Manhattan Beach Park

Police believe the man who was found dead is a foreign national who recently entered the country.

MANHATTAN BEACH, CA — A body was found in Polliwog Park in Manhattan Beach Monday morning, according to police.

The Manhattan Beach Police Department and Fire Department paramedics responded to the park at about 7:03 a.m., where they found a man lying unresponsive on the ground near the pond. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The man's cause of death was listed as "deferred" pending additional investigation, according to the Los Angeles County Office of the Medical Examiner/Coroner. Authorities said they did not identify any obvious signs of foul play.

Authorities believe the man is a 23-year-old foreign national who recently traveled into the country. His identity was withheld pending notification of his next of kin.
