Contra Costa Deputies Hunting Killer Of 9-Year-Old Boy

The child was stabbed to death this morning in Discovery Bay. Authorities have named a suspect, 18, who may be driving a Silverado.

The Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office is looking for an 18-year-old man in connection with the death of a 9-year-old boy stabbed in Discovery Bay this morning, a spokesman said.

William Schultz, of Discovery Bay, is a suspect in a stabbing reported in the 1900 block of Frost Way around 10 a.m., sheriff’s spokesman Jimmy Lee said. Deputies arrived to the scene and learned that a family member took the 9-year-old boy to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, Lee said.

The sheriff’s office has not released the boy’s identity as of this afternoon. Schultz is described as a white man, standing about 6 feet 2 inches tall and weighing around 170 pounds with brown hair and hazel eyes, Lee said.

He may be driving a four-door 2009 Chevrolet Silverado with California license plate 8W92639.

Detectives are working to determine a motive in the homicide, Lee said. Anyone who sees Schultz is asked to call 911 or the sheriff’s office at (925) 646-2441.
