Napa High Soccer Coach Arrested For Allegedly 'Sexting' Student, 16

Julian Vargas, 29, was taken into custody early today at his home in St. Helena, police said.

The coach of Napa High School’s junior varsity soccer team was arrested today after allegedly sending a female player, 16, a text message photo of his penis and propositioning her for sex, according to police.

Julian Vargas, 29, of St. Helena, was taken into custody at 12:30 a.m. at his residence on the 1500 block of Kennedy Court in St. Helena on suspicion of contacting a minor with the intent to commit a felony and sending harmful matter with the intent to seduce a minor, the Napa Police Department reported.

A 16-year-old female Napa High School student contacted the Napa police on Saturday afternoon claiming that her coach, Vargas, has been propositioning her for sex since April 21, and had sent her a photograph, via text, of his penis, along with a message soliciting her for sex, police said.

The victim, according to authorities, also suspects Vargas contacted other girls with the same intent.

Napa’s investigating officer obtained a search warrant, arrest warrant and Emergency Protective Order for Vargas, and the warrants and EPO were served at his St. Helena home early today, police said. Vargas was arrested, interviewed and booked at Napa County Detention Center.
