Napa Man Arrested For Alleged Assault On wife

Napa police arrested a parolee this morning in connection with a domestic violence incident earlier this month, a police lieutenant said.

Jason Slusher, 33, of Napa, was wanted in connection with an assault on his wife at their home in the 2700 block of Illinois Street on May 13, Lt. Debbie Peecook said.

Slusher’s wife told responding officers that he pushed her down and choked her after they argued around 7:40 p.m. about their home smelling like marijuana, Peecook said.

Slusher left in a silver Buick after the argument but police returned to the home around 9:30 p.m., Peecook said. Slusher fled in his vehicle when he saw officers, drove up to 70 mph and failed to stop at stop signs, Peecook said.

Police discontinued the pursuit for public safety reasons in the area of First Street near California Boulevard, Peecook said.

Napa County Superior Court issued an arrest warrant for Slusher for assault likely to cause great bodily harm, evading police and resisting arrest and for a parole hold for violating his probation, Peecook said.

Police returned and found Slusher at the home at 11:30 a.m. today.

Slusher ran and jumped over fences during a pursuit that ended when he was shot with a Taser at Roosevelt Street and Old Sonoma Road, Peecook said.

An officer injured his hand during the pursuit, and Slusher suffered minor scrapes. He was taken to Queen of the Valley Medical Center before he was booked in the Napa County Jail.
