2 Stabbed To Death, 3 Injured In 4th Of July Stabbing In OC

HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA — A stabbing in Orange County left two people dead, and three other people injured, with one suspect "in custody," authorities said Friday.

The stabbing was reported at around 11:15 p.m. Thursday near 16th Street and Pecan Avenue, according to the Huntington Beach Police Department.

The attack took place in a neighborhood of multi-family buildings.

"Upon arrival, officers located several victims with significant injuries," police posted on X, formerly Twitter.

"As a result of this incident, unfortunately 2 individuals succumbed to their injuries. An additional 3 individuals were transported to a local area hospital with non-life threatening injuries. We have 1 person in custody. The investigation is still ongoing and more information will be provided as we are able to," police said.

Authorities told Fox11 that the victims had been stabbed. It was unclear if the person who was "in custody" was one of those injured.

"HBPD has no reason to believe there is any further public safety threat related to this incident," police said. "The investigation into this incident is ongoing and no additional details will be released at this time."
