Santa Rosa Police Detective Dies From Coronavirus

SANTA ROSA, CA — A longtime Santa Rosa police detective has died from the coronavirus. Detective Marylou Armer died Tuesday of complications from COVID-19, according to a statement from Santa Rosa police Chief Rainer Navarro.

"It is with heavy hearts that the Santa Rosa Police Department announces the passing of a member of our SRPD family, Detective Marylou Armer," Navarro said. "Detective Armer has faithfully served our community, as a member of the Santa Rosa Police Department for the past 20 years and was most recently assigned to the Domestic Violence Sexual Assault Team.

"Sadly, Detective Armer was one of our Department employees who previously tested positive for COVID-19 and, today, succumbed to complications from the illness. Our hearts are with the family and Detective Armer will be deeply missed."

Armer was a Napa County resident and Napa County's first coronavirus-related death.

Navarro on Monday said eight SRPD employees had tested positive for the virus.
