Sonoma County Postal Worker Tests Positive For Coronavirus

A postal worker in Santa Rosa has tested positive for the new coronavirus, the U.S. Postal Service said Tuesday.​

SONOMA COUNTY, CA — A postal worker in Santa Rosa has tested positive for the new coronavirus, the U.S. Postal Service said Tuesday.

The employee worked at the Santa Rosa Post Office Annex at 2850 McBride Ln., the USPS said. The employee is now isolating at home and will return to work when medically cleared.

"We believe exposure risk for other employees at the facility is low, based on guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and our own health department," the USPS said in a statement.

There is no evidence that COVID-19 can spread through the mail, the postal service said, citing information from the CDC and World Health Organization.

"Out of an abundance of caution, we have enhanced and supplemented current cleaning protocols using disinfectant across the facility in addition to providing sanitizers, gloves and masks for employees," the USPS said.
