Suspect Arrested After Domestic Disturbance Standoff In Pleasanton

PLEASANTON, CA — A 34-year-old suspect, Jacob Mauck, was arrested following a standoff at an apartment complex in Pleasanton Wednesday morning, according to police.

At 8:20 a.m. following a reported domestic disturbance, Pleasanton police issued an alert asking residents to shelter in place at the Civic Square apartments on Case and Bernal avenues, across from Pleasanton Middle School.

"This is not a hostage situation," the Pleasanton Police Department said in a 9 a.m. statement. "It started as a domestic disturbance, and the victim is safe. Officers are on scene and working to establish contact with the suspect."

Officers initially were called at 7:36 a.m. to the home on the 4800 block of Bernal Ave., where the victim exited the apartment, but the suspect, Mauck, remained inside and armed with a handgun, police said.

"Working to reach a peaceful resolution, Pleasanton officers were joined by our Crisis Negotiation Team, East County Tactical Team and Alameda County Sheriff’s Office UAV unit," the department said. "Around 10:30 a.m., crisis negotiators successfully persuaded the man to surrender, and he was safely taken into custody."

At approximately 11 a.m., the shelter-in-place order was rescinded, and no injuries were reported in the incident.

Mauck was booked at Santa Rita Jail in Dublin for suspicion of criminal threats, brandishing a firearm and being a felon in possession of a firearm, police said.
