Kitten Thrown Into Street From Car Has Died; Suspect Sought

EL SEGUNDO, CA — A kitten thrown from a car into traffic in El Segundo has died, and police Thursday continued their efforts to find the suspect.

The cat was thrown out of the vehicle on Monday about 9:25 a.m. near Grand Avenue and Nash Street, according to the El Segundo Police Department, which originally reported that the incident occurred at Grand and Continental avenues.

On Thursday, police reported that the kitten died.

A witness reported that someone in the car in front of her opened the driver side door, throwing a small kitten out into the street before continuing to drive.

The witness stopped to help the kitten and called police. When police arrived they took the injured kitten to an animal hospital for treatment where it is now recovering.

No immediate suspect description was available and investigators are turning to the public for help.

"The initial witness was unable to provide us with a description of the suspect or his/her car,' police said. "We are looking for additional witnesses who may be able to provide more information about this crime."
