A man slit his throat with a razor blade at a Santa Monica church coffee shop, police said.

SANTA MONICA, CA — A man cut himself using a razor blade across his throat Monday, police told Patch.

The incident happened about 9:22 a.m. Monday at St. Monica Catholic Church's coffee shop, 701 California Ave., according to the Santa Monica Police Department.

Officers arrived and found the man bleeding from his neck, police said. They gave him first aid and called the fire department.

Police found a razor blade near him and he was taken to a hospital for further medical treatment. His condition was not immediately available.

He appeared to be homeless, police said.
