5 Vehicles Spray Painted With Swastikas, Hate Speech In East County

EL CAJON, CA — Police sought the public's help Tuesday in finding the person or people who spray painted swastikas and other hate speech on five parked vehicles in San Diego's East County.

The vandalism happened between 1:30-3 a.m. June 27 in the 1300 block of Greenfield Drive in El Cajon, according to the El Cajon Police Department.

"At this time, our primary focus is on identifying and arresting the individual(s) responsible for the damage," Lt. Will Guerin said. "The motive for the vandalism is unclear, and investigators have not determined whether the suspect(s) had any prior connection to the victims."

Guerin said the department takes hate crimes "very seriously."

"Acts of vandalism like this are not just attacks on property but on our community," he said. "We urge anyone with information about this incident to come forward and assist us in our investigation."
