The investigation is ongoing, police said.

"Drivers and riders are reminded that if they become involved in a collision, they should pull over and stop as soon as it is safe to do so, notify emergency services, and remain at the scene to identify themselves," police said.

Throughout the pandemic, scooter use has risen in popularity. Several scooter crashes and problems have come up in the Venice and Santa Monica area. Electric scooters are available on sidewalks for people to rent and are required to be in the street with only one person per scooter. Traffic laws for scooters are expected to be followed for people who use them.
