Picture Connecticut: 'The Petersburg Express'

HARTFORD, CT — This week, it's the second part of Patch's Picture Connecticut tour of the state Capitol grounds.

Sitting at one end of the Capitol lawn is an iconic Civil War mortar that had action in one of its most celebrated battles.

The 13-inch gun was positioned in front of Petersburg in 1964 and 1865. The mortar was widely known at "Petersburg Express."
