BRANFORD, CT — While investigating a car crash with injuries on North Main Street near Chestnut Street Monday, "civilians, medics, and officers" were in the roadway near the scene of the accident. Suddenly, police said, a stolen car raced through the accident scene at a high rate of speed.

Though Branford police officers attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver took off after driving through a business' parking lot, jumped a curb and fled south on Chestnut Street, authorities said.

The vehicle was later discovered abandoned in the parking lot of a business on East Main Street, police noted on Facebook. Investigators got surveillance video from the business and after investigation, two 16-year-olds were identified, police said.
