Cheshire Coach, Former Standout Athlete Dies At 43

Brian Perry, an assistant coach for the Cheshire boys' lacrosse and football teams, died Friday at the age of 43.

CHESHIRE, CT — The Cheshire community is mourning the loss of Brian Perry, a coach and former standout athlete who died Friday at 43, according to GameTimeCT.com.

Perry was the freshman coach for the Cheshire High School boys’ lacrosse team and an assistant coach for the football team. He was also a standout player in both sports.

Perry was the New Haven Register’s area lacrosse MVP in 1996 and was also a part of Cheshire’s football team that won a state-record 49 consecutive games from 1992 to 1996, according to GameTimeCT.

“Extremely tough weekend for Cheshire Lacrosse,” CHS Rams Lacrosse wrote in a post on Twitter. “Unfortunately, we have lost another dedicated Coach and former player of the program. Coach Perry’s passion and enthusiasm towards the development of our players will surely be missed. Coach Perry was a tremendous two-sport athlete for Cheshire High Lacrosse and Football that thoroughly had pure joy coaching both sports! We send our best to the Perry Family during this difficult time.”

Perry died from complications of diabetes, according to his obituary.
