Hair Salon in Cheshire Closes Abruptly, Employees Notified Via Text: Report

Dozens of employees reportedly were left unemployed without warning.

CHESHIRE, CT — A hair salon in Cheshire closed abruptly last week and employees were notified via text that they no longer had jobs, according to multiple reports.

One employee told WTNH News 8 that more than 50 employees were left unemployed with the closing of The Image Company Hair Salon. The company also closed its location in Bristol and two salons in Glastonbury.

WTNH News 8 reports the employees received a text from one of the owners at 9:45 p.m. that the salon was closing and customers were still showing up for appointments this week at the Highland Avenue location.

NBC Connecticut reports that the text message that was sent to employees read:

“It is with great sorrow to announce that we are temporarily closing the stores effective immediately. You have every right to seek unemployment benefits. Please respect our privacy.”
