Why my mom rocks

I could write endless pages on why my mother is the greatest mom in the world, but I’ll keep it short and sweet. My mom has devoted her entire life to bettering the lives of the people around her. Whether she’s baking a “Nanny’s bread” for a friend recovering from surgery, jumping through hoops for customers at her store, offering kind words to a friend in a time of need, or helping my siblings with their school work - she is always putting others before herself.

There has never been a time in my life when I was not surrounded by love and support from her. Even though she is a hard-working business owner and an involved member of the Clinton community, she has still managed to always have time for her children. I honestly don’t know where or who I’d be without her.

Not only has my mother inspired my siblings and I to strive to be the best we can be despite adversity, but she has also instilled in us a great sense of Irish culture (straight from her own mother) that has most definitely shaped who we’ve become. We have grown up surrounded by laughter, adventure, and strength and words cannot express how grateful I am for that.

The main reason I am nominating my mom is because I want her to understand that even though my siblings and I may drive her out of her mind, we still appreciate everything that she does for us and all that she has taught us. I will be happy if I’m even half as amazing as she is when I grow up.

I’ll end this with a quote from a poem I wrote for Mother’s Day in 3rd grade that has proved to be timeless: “I love my mom, she’s my best friend. I’ll love her ‘til the very end.”
