Danbury Man Threatened to 'Shoot Up' Police Department, Tried to Headbutt Officer: Police

Police say the man also tried to headbutt an officer and kicked two others in the leg during his arrest.

DANBURY, CT — A Danbury man is facing a terrorism charge after police allege he threatened to "shoot up" the police department after a struggle with officers early Wednesday morning.

Gary Mayone, 51, was arrested on charges of breach of peace, two counts of interfering, criminal attempt assault on a police officer, two counts of assault on a police officer, act of terrorism and failure to be fingerprinted. During his arrest, Mayone allegedly said that he should "get an assault rifle and shoot up the Danbury Police Department."

Police said that officers responded to the Samuels Court apartments on Scuppo Rd. at 1:15 a.m. Wednesday morning on a report of an intoxicated male pounding on the floor of his apartment. Police said that officers had dealt with the same complaint just a few hours beforehand.

Officers heard several loud bangs coming from Mayone's apartment upon arrival, and took him into custody. Police say that while he was being put into the car, he attempted to headbutt an officer and a struggled ensued. The alleged threat was made was made while Mayone was being processed at police headquarters.

While being evaluated at Danbury Hospital, Mayone is accused of kicking another officer. He is being held at the Danbury Police Department on $50,000 bond.
