Snow, Ice Timeline Shifts, New Accumulation Estimates: CT Weather

The National Weather Service has issued new estimates concerning snow and ice accumulation and there has been a shift in the timeline too.

(Connecticut weather update: New snow and ice totals and a new timeline for the precipitation. )

CONNECTICUT — The timeline for this latest snow and ice storm has shifted somewhat and the precipitation isn't expected to really get going now until after midnight. Everyone should begin as snow before a transition to freezing rain, which is expected to cause numerous problems for the Tuesday morning commute.

The biggest question mark right now centers on the immediate coast and how quickly does the snow and freezing rain turn to plain rain Tuesday morning. Inland and northern sections of the state are looking at a prolonged period of icing.

Connecticut is expected to see a couple of inches of snow and ice accumulation, a little less on the coast, and possibly more in Litchfield County. But again, the biggest concern is the prolonged period of icing in inland and northern sections of the state which is expected to make travel very difficult Tuesday morning.
