A $230 Increase For A CT Gun Permit? Gun Owners Say Heck No!

The 400 percent increase is being proposed by Gov. Dannel Malloy.

Connecticut's gun owners are vowing to fight Gov. Dannel Malloy's proposed increase to gun permit fees, one of the governor's plans to help whittle away at the state's exploding budget deficits, reports the Connecticut Post.

Currently $70, the fee would jump to $300, an increase of $230 that Malloy's administration says is comparable to fees in New York City. But the Connecticut Citizens Defense League, a pro-gun rights group that opposes the fee increase, is quick to point out that the rest of New York State pays a fee similar to Connecticut's current one.

According to Dora Schriro, Connecticut Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection Commissioner, more than 45,000 gun permits are slated for renewal in 2018, and the fee increase is partially needed to help with processing those and others, writes Connecticut News Junkie.
