Police Chief Carl Sferrazza said Akhtar and his brother got into a verbal argument over money late Friday night, which escalated into a physical altercation. According to a police report, Akhtar punched his brother twice, and when his mother attempted to dial 9-1-1, he grabbed the phone away from her and hit his brother in the back of the head with it five or six times, then fled the residence.

When police arrived, they observed Akhtar driving past the house, then followed him to nearby Orchard Hill Drive, where he locked himself in his car. Police were able to get the door open and took him into custody, Sferrazza said.
