Why does your mom rock?

My mother is one of the most selfless and hardest working individuals I have ever met. She earned her MBA while I was a baby and gave up a promising career as an accountant to fully devote herself to raising me and my two younger brothers. My mother spent our childhood volunteering at our schools, leading Girl Scout troops, organizing the altar server schedule at our church, working fundraising events, and attending countless meetings all while keeping our house spotless and feeding our family of five every night.

As my brothers and I grew older, and became more independent, my mom returned to work. She still found time to cook, clean, make sure our homework was done, attend our special events, and still volunteer at our schools and church. When my brother’s lifelong friend became sick with cancer, my mom, who thought of this child as a son, spent countless hours at his hospital bedside, offered his parents a shoulder to cry on, and helped their family out at home and still balancing her grief and our own family’s needs.

This month my youngest brother will graduate from college. She and my father worked hard to ensure they could provide all three of their children a college education, and for that we are all grateful. Instead of spending her empty-nest years care-free, my mother continues to work long hours as an accountant and still manages to have a smile on her face. She does all she can for her husband, mother, mother-in-law, and her adult children. I am constantly in awe of my mother’s selfless nature. She gives and she gives to all those around her. She puts her heart and soul into everything she does, even if it means sacrificing her time, money, and energy. Mom, thank you for everything you do! We all love and appreciate you!
