Why does your mom rock?

My Mom rocks because not only did she raise four daughters who have become strong, centered, successful women and mothers, she also has mentored numerous young minds as a teacher in Avon. In our society too often we talk about or read about sports stars, or rock stars following their every move. The truth is our real heroes are people just like my mom. She sacrificed her time, money, energy, and own wants to allow all four of us to grow up in a loving home (with my dad), go to college, and launch our lives on solid footing knowing that God has a plan for us. In her classroom she poured herself into her teaching making sure all of her students were able to learn and understand but even more importantly that they felt valued. Now that she is retired my Mom continues to reach out to her neighbors along with mentoring our children (her grandchildren).

Why do you feel she deserves the spotlight?

My mother has never had the spotlight shined on her. She always worked “backstage” and applauds the loudest as any of us (my sisters and I) receive accolades. We all know that without my Mom we would not be the women we are today- teacher, professor, opera singer, entrepreneur, mother, and most of all strong, centered women. We can’t thank her enough. Our children can’t thank her enough. All I can say is that, “Mom, you are my hero!”
