FARMINGTON, CT — A popular Farmington restaurant has announced a temporary shutdown after a staffer tested positive for the coronavirus.

George's Pizza and Restaurant has been in business for about four decades. It is located at 9 school street in the Unionville section of town. In a passionate Facebook post, owners said they wanted to be candid about the test.

"We must write the post that every business owner has feared having to write since this all started back in March," they wrote. "A member of our team has tested positive for COVID-19, and we've made the difficult but necessary decision to temporarily close. As numbers across the state continue to increase and as we head into a holiday week where so many families will gather, we want to give time to the rest of our team to get tested, as well as take all the steps recommended by the CDC."

Owners said a process for a positive test has in place since the "very beginning of COVID-19" and the restaurant is "able to move swiftly" to address it.

"Our team is the very best, our customers are the very best, and we only want the best for everyone," the Facebook post said. "So, while we know we will disappoint some, we appreciate all of the support and understanding during this time."
