Another Veteran CT News Anchor Decides To Leave

She is leaving her evening anchor role after seven years with the station.

Anne Craig, the veteran evenings news anchor for WTNH-TV, announced Thursday that she is hanging up the microphone to spend more time with her family.

"It has been one of my life's greatest joys to deliver the news in the great state of Connecticut," wrote Craig on her Facebook page. "Not being home in the evening for my family has weighed heavily on me. So after more than two decades of writing other peoples stories, I'm excited to write my own."

Her last newscasts will be the 5 p.m. and 11 p.m. editions on Feb. 28, and she says she may tackle writing a children's book in the future.

The Laurel writes that Channel 8 officials hope Craig, who has been with the station for seven years, will continue as an occasional fill-in anchor. Replacing Craig will be Ann Nyberg beginning on March 1.

Craig's announcement is the latest in what has been a busy year of comings-and-goings in the Connecticut television news market. A couple of weeks ago, fellow WTNH news personality Teresa Dufour said she was transitioning to another role at the station to regain her mornings with her family.

And over the past several months, a host of other Connecticut news broadcasters have either left or took temporary leaves for health reasons.
