Connecticut Weather: Hour-By-Hour Saturday Snowstorm Forecast

There's been changes to how much snow we will receive today and the timing of when it will start. Here's the latest updates.

Connecticut is still getting snow today, but NBC Connecticut Meteorologist Ryan Hanrahan
said overnight computer models are showing that the storm will be less impressive and snowfall estimates will have to be reduced a bit.

“Good morning! Trend overnight is a less impressive storm. A couple inches of snow on the way but numbers will have to come down a smidge. Most areas likely in the 3”-5” range with adds 6” totals still possible,” Hanrahan said in a Saturday morning update.

Additionally, the snow will begin later this morning and it may take until the afternoon and evening for the snow to accumulate on roads and driveways.

The big snow accumulation estimate change is that most areas were predicted to see 5 inches of snow today, and Hanrahan is scaling that back by a couple of inches based on the latest computer models.

WTNH News 8 Meteorologist Gil Simmons said, “Good morning! Light snow will overspread the state through the morning hours. Steadiest this afternoon/evening. Still expecting mostly 3" to 6" with a few spots in eastern Connecticut possibly getting 7". Quiet weather tomorrow. “

A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect for the coast of New Haven County, all of Middlesex, New London, and Windham counties. For the rest of the state including Fairfield, Hartford, Tolland, and interior sections of New Haven County a Winter Weather Advisory is in effect.

Sunday and Monday are dry and then more snow is possible after midnight Monday, changing to a mix during the day Tuesday, and possibly ending as more snow Tuesday night.
