Connecticut Weather: Winter Storm Warning Issued For Tuesday

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for all of CT. Here is a look at how much snow you can expect.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning on Monday for the entire state of Connecticut as heavy snow is expected to fall late tonight and on Tuesday. The snow is expected to begin falling in parts of the state around 10 p.m. and continue into Tuesday afternoon. The heaviest snow is expected Tuesday morning.

Snow total estimates have changed a bit from Sunday as the storm is now moving slightly more to the east, which means a bit less snow, especially for western parts of Connecticut. (New, updated story: Hour-By-Hour Forecast of CT's 3rd Major Nor'easter Snowstorm).

Here is a look at how much snow the National Weather Service is predicting areas of the state will receive. For Fairfield and New Haven counties between 4 and 7 inches of snow is expected. In Middlesex and New London counties 6 to 9 inches of snow is likely and up to 12 inches in certain spots is also possible.

For Hartford, Tolland and Windham counties 7 to 10 inches of snow is expected with some areas receiving up to 13 inches of snow. Litchfield County is forecast to receive 6 to 9 inches of snow.

WTNH News 8 Meteorologist Gil Simmons said "Calm before the storm today. Sun to clouds with 40s. Snow arrives tonight 9p-1a. Snow tomorrow tapering 1p-5p. Heaviest in the AM. Strongest winds SE CT again."
