Connecticut Meteorologist Arrested on Child Pornography Charges

The 33-year-old Hamden resident was arrested at work on Wednesday following an investigation that began in June, state police said.

Hamden, CT — Hamden resident Justin Goldstein, a meteorologist for WTNH News 8, was arrested on child pornography charges Wednesday following an investigation that began in June, according to Connecticut State Police.

Goldstein, 33, of the 1500 block of Aspen Glen Drive in Hamden, was taken into custody at his place of employment and transported to Troop I in Bethany where he was arrested, police said.

Members of the Connecticut State Police Computer Crimes Unit, with the assistance of the FBI, Homeland Security Investigations and the Hamden Police Department, executed a search warrant at Goldstein’s home on July 13 as part of an ongoing possession of child pornography investigation, state police said in a press release.

Authorities seized computers and computer-related equipment from the home during the search.

Examinations of the seized property were conducted at the scene and files of suspected child pornography were located, according to police.

Police then took Goldstein into custody at his office.

Goldstein was arrested on charges of promoting a minor in an obscene performance and first-degree illegal possession of child pornography. He was held on a $200,000 bond and is scheduled to appear at Meriden Superior Court on Thursday morning.

Mark Higgins, President and General Manager of WTNH-TV, issued the following statement Wednesday afternoon (via the WTNH website):

"We are deeply concerned by the allegations. Until the matter is resolved, Justin Goldstein is suspended from his duties at WTNH."
