Man ‘Ransacked’ Home, Stole Jewelry, Cash During Burglary: Hamden Police

Police say DNA evidence left at the scene led to the suspect's arrest on a warrant.

HAMDEN, CT — A 19-year-old New Haven man is accused of stealing numerous items, including jewelry and money, from a Hamden home over the summer, according to police.

On June 27, 2016, Hamden Police responded to a Warner Street residence on the report of a forcible burglary. The victim had returned home and found her residence “ransacked,” according to Capt. Ronald Smith.

Smith said officers determined that Shaymell Stanley climbed a first-level deck railing and then grabbed onto a satellite dish that was bolted near a second-floor window. He then forced entry by removing an air conditioning unit that was located near the window, according to Smith.
